Public Statement No. 57

The National Front of Popular Resistance declares in alert due to the recent actions from the oligarchy which through the de facto regime of Porfirio Lobo intends to eliminate the right to public education and the rights and achievements of the teacher unions’ movement.

1.  We denounce the oligarchy’s intentions to privatize elementary and secondary education through a General Law of Education that would be approved by the illegal and illegitimate legislative power and in which the State would be absolved to warrant public education, while the “Estatuto del Docente” and other laws guaranteeing the rights acquired by education workers would be delegitimized.

2. We unconditionally support the hunger strike carried out by the workers of Honduras Autonomous National University Union, who are demanding their illegal dismissal to be reversed and all juridical actions against them to stop. Likewise, we note the intransigent attitude of Director Julieta Castellanos who does not promote a viable solution to the conflict.

3. We summon all militants of the Popular Resistance to an appointment settled at Instituto Hibueras this Thursday at 8 am in order to give our support to the just causes that teacher unions are defending.

4. We reiterate that the only solution to the conflict lived by the Honduran society as a result of the implementation of the neoliberal model and the Coup d’Etat, is the installation of a National Constituent Assembly with popular majority, which promotes structural changes leading to an equal and democratic society.

We resist and we will defeat!

COMUNICADO No. 57           

 

El Frente Nacional de Resistencia Popular se declara en alerta por las más recientes acciones de la oligarquía que a través del régimen de facto de Porfirio Lobo pretende eliminar el derecho a la educación pública y los derechos y conquistas del movimiento magisterial. 

  1. Denunciamos la intención de la oligarquía de privatizar la educación primaria y secundaria a través de una Ley General de Educación que sería aprobada por el ilegal e ilegítimo poder legislativo y en la que se descartaría al Estado como garante de la educación pública, al mismo tiempo que quedarían sin valor ni efecto el Estatuto del Docente y otras leyes que garantizan los derechos adquiridos por los trabajadores de la educación.

  1. Apoyamos incondicionalmente la huelga de hambre emprendida por los trabajadores y trabajadoras del Sindicado de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, quienes exigen se revierta su despido ilegal y se detengan todas las acciones judiciales emprendidas en su contra. Asimismo señalamos la actitud intransigente de la rectora Julieta Castellanos quien no permite una salida viable al conflicto.

  1. Convocamos a todos y todas lo militantes de la Resistencia Popular para que este jueves a las 8 de la mañana nos demos cita en las Instalaciones del Instituto Hibueras para patentizar nuestro apoyo a las causas justas que defiende el magisterio organizado.

  1. Reiteramos que única salida al conflicto que vive la sociedad hondureña como producto de la implantación del modelo neoliberal y de el golpe de Estado, es la instalación de una Asamblea Nacional Constituyente con mayoría popular, que promueva las transformaciones estructurales que permitan una sociedad igualitaria y democrática.
